Tampa General Hospital logoTampa General Hospital is now nationally recognized for its transplant programs. We recently became the 4th largest program in terms of all transplant surgeries in the nation. In 2011, a total of 56 cardiac transplants, 228 adult kidney transplants, 120 liver transplants, 20 kidney-pancreas transplants, 2 heart-kidney, 6 liver-kidney, and 56 lung transplants were performed at Tampa General Hospital.

The large number of transplants performed at this hospital has led to a medical and surgical staff exceptionally familiar with pre- and post-transplant care in all subspecialties.

The hospital also supports a mechanical heart assist program (Left Ventricular Assist Device- LVAD) program for patients with end stage cardiac disease too sick for a heart transplant or with other medical issues which preclude primary cardiac transplant as an option.

Visit TGH’s website for additional transplant program information.
